Senior Adviser, HIV/AIDS, P-5, Programmes, New York
If you are a passionate and committed professional and want to make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you. UNICEF seeks a Senior Adviser, HIV/AIDS to be based in its Office in Programmes, New York.
You will be responsible for managing the programme planning activities related to accelerating UNICEF's response to HIV and AIDS pandemic, in close cooperation with UNAIDS and other UN and bilateral agencies. For programme planning purposes, you will collaborate closely with and serve as co-convener of the UNICEF/NYHQ AIDS Task Group including Senior Advisers in the Outcome Areas, and the Divisions of Communication, Public-sector Alliances and Resource Mobilization, Public Partnerships, Fundraising and Partnerships.
Your profile:
• Advanced university degree in relevant field, e.g. social sciences, social development, psychology, public health or related degree. Current expert knowledge of latest developments and issues related to HIV and AIDS.
• At least ten years progressive experiences at national and international levels in programme formulation, design, management and evaluation with emphasis on strategic planning.

• Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and manage programmes as well as transfer knowledge and skills.
• Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form.
• Demonstrated public health track record through publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Able to translate latest evidence into practical programming for resource-poor and complex emergency settings.
• Proven ability to plan, manage the effective use of programme financial resources and supplies.
• Ability to supervise and direct a team of professional and support staff.
• Good analytical, negotiating and advocacy skills.
• Knowledge of global human rights issues, specifically relating to children and women, and the current UNICEF position and approaches.
• Rights-based and results-based approach and programming in UNICEF.
• UNICEF financial, supply and administrative rules and regulations.
• UNICEF programme policy, procedures and guidelines in the Manual.
• Familiarity with UNICEF's Mid-Term Strategic Plan.
• Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment.
• Fluency in English and knowledge of French and/or Spanish.
