Chief, WES, L-4, Bujumbura, Burundi
If you are a passionate and committed professional and want to make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you. UNICEF seeks a Chief, WES to be based in its Bujumbura, Burundi.
Under the general guidance of the Programme Coordinator, you will be responsible for the development, design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Programme within the country programme. You will link Government, Donors, NGO and other organizations of civil society. You will act as key adviser to government on WES related policy development and by doing so positions Children's issues in national processes such as SWAP, PRSP and budget supports they relate to the WES Sector. You will also be responsible for capacity building for strengthening of Community Based Management of WES facilities, promotion of WES related practices and monitoring, as well as monitor performance of existing technologies for water supply and sanitation and promote low cost sustainable options for standardization and scaling up.
Your profile:
Advanced university degree in Water Supply or Sanitary Engineering or Geology or Geophysics, or other related fields.
Eight years of relevant progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme planning, management, monitoring, and evaluation, in Water Supply ad sanitation or related fields.
Current knowledge of the latest developments and technology, in the field.
Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and manage programmes, as well as to impart knowledge and teach skills.
Leadership, supervisory and managerial skills.
Good analytical, negotiation, communication and advocacy skills.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications.
Fluency in French another UN language required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
