Senior Adviser, WASH (Water Supply and Quality), P-5, Programmes, New York
If you are a passionate and committed professional and want to make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you. UNICEF seeks a Senior Adviser, WASH (Water Supply and Quality) to be based in its Office in Programmes, New York.
The focus of the post will be on developing policy; gathering and developing evidence; and maintaining strategic partnerships in the areas of water supply and water quality to enhance UNICEF programmes for children around the world. Working closely with the WES Associate Director, the WES Scaling Up Team, Regional Advisers and partners the incumbent will also be responsible for providing the evidential, policy and strategy basis for improving and accelerating UNICEF-supported water programmes and for encouraging expanded efforts and more efficient approaches to water supply and water quality in the sector as a whole.
Your profile:
• Advanced university degree in water supply, sanitary or public health/environmental engineering, with specialization in geology or hydrogeology. Professional engineer/scientific body registration and Ph.D. will be preferred.
• Ten years of progressively responsible work experience in a professional capacity, 6 years of which must be in developing countries. Familiarity with UNICEF WES programmes in Africa and Asia essential.
• Should possess experience in training and technology transfer. Experience in cost analysis and in water and sanitation programmes is essential.
• Fluency in English and either French or Spanish required. Any other UN language an asset.
