Regional Adviser, Child Protection, P-5, Kathmandu Regional Office, Nepal

To assist the Regional Director in fulfilling his/her accountabilities with respect to:
(a) Quality Assurance and Oversight of country programmes from inception to delivery.
(b) Strategic Representation and Partnerships
(c) Knowledge Leadership with respect to children’s issues in the Region.
This assistance is provided by carrying out the duties in respect of Child Protection.
Your profile:
• Advanced university degree in social sciences, humanitarian law/international law, or other relevant discipline.
• Twelve years progressively responsible professional level experience in development related activities in the field of child protection and development. Strong management experience with proven analytical, conceptualizing and negotiating skills, relevant to human and social development.
• Good knowledge of human rights in child protection, exploitation and abuse.
• Current knowledge of the latest child protection, International Law/Humanitarian Law and development issues, strategies, as well as programme policies and technology in the relevant fields.
• Should be fully conversant with UNICEF programme policies, goals, strategies, guidelines and approaches related to programme. Related experience in policy and programme planning in UNICEF useful.
• Good analytical, negotiating, networking, managing stress as well as communication skills. Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form.
• Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously in a multi-cultural team and establish harmonious & effective working relationship both within and outside the organization.
• Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas, as well as transfer knowledge and build capacities through writing, training and counseling for country office staff.
• Leadership ability to manage resources, good judgment, ability to build trust and team work.
• UNICEF Foundational Competencies: Commitment, Drive for Results, Embracing Diversity, Integrity, Self Awareness & self-regulation, team Work.
• Demonstrated ability to be very articulate and precise in spoken and written English. Another UN language desirable.
