Chief, Child Protection, L-4, Colombo, Sri Lanka

If you are a passionate and committed professional and want to make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you. UNICEF seeks a Chief, Child Protection to be based in its Colombo Office, Sri Lanka.

Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Representative, responsible for the development, design, planning, implementation and management of the programme for Protection within the country programme, and administering a programme budget. Directs a significant group of professional and support staff to develop and administer the Protection programme.

Your profile:
• Advanced university degree in social sciences child development, social development, international relations, or a related field
• Ten to thirteen years of relevant progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme planning and management in a related field, with emphasis on strategic planning. Background/familiarity with emergency and security.
• Understanding of UNICEF programmatic goals, visions, positions, policies and strategies
• Understanding of government policies, guidelines, legislation and strategies on child development
• Good knowledge of human rights in child protection, exploitation and abuse
• Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and manage programmes, as well as to impart knowledge and teach skills
• Leadership, supervisory and managerial skills
• Good analytical, negotiation, communication and advocacy skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization
• Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications
• Fluency in English and another UN language required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
