Highlights

There is a lot of interest, and growing evidence, in the social protection and humanitarian sectors over the potential integration, or coordination, between their respective data and information systems, to improve emergency response. This Technical Note offers guidance on this topic, complements the “UNICEF Guidance on strengthening Shock Responsive Social Protection systems’’. It explains what government social protection information systems and humanitarian information systems look like and discusses how routine social protection data and information systems can be useful for shock preparedness and response, and at the same time delving into the role humanitarian information systems can play to strengthen shock responsiveness of social protection systems.
